Special Olympics Fundraiser
In communities across Australia, the volunteers of the Special Olympics organisation provide year-round sports opportunities for children and adults with an intellectual disability, enabling participants to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience joy.
A key fundraiser for the organisation is an annual Melbourne Cup event held at The WatervieW in Bicentennial Park. As this event is for such a wonderful cause, Impact AV has been a major sponsor since 2009, providing all audio visual requirements to ensure the success of the evening.
As such a high profile, fast-paced, inspirational event, it was important for Impact AV to create a truly professional and seamless evening which matched the high profile of attendees and entertainers.
The event included a jam-packed line up of entertainment, kicked off by a colourful parade of the season’s Spring racing fashion put on by major sponsor, Myer. Guests were wowed by amazing dance routines performed by the GY Dancers (acclaimed for their recent appearances on X-Factor Australia), while entertainer Todd McKenney provided fantastic performances including a crowd-pleasing rendition of I go to Rio together with the dynamic moves of the Special Olympics Dance Group. Comperes for the evening were well known sports commentators, Stephanie Brantz and Simon Hill.
We used our equipment to transform the venue to create an environment in which guests could be entertained, inspired and moved to make a difference by making a donation.
The Melbourne Cup event was a highly successful evening. Not only did everyone have a wonderful time, a combination of raffles prizes, live auctions and proceeds from Melbourne Cup Sweeps raised $27,655 for Special Olympics. ImpactAV is pleased to have contributed almost $13,000 worth of equipment hire and services to ensure the evening was a success.
