International Towers Observatory Hill

Thank you so much for your support, energy and participation in this special launch event this morning. On Facebook we have at this point 450 viewers – So that is pleasing and I was impressed with the whole AV set up and technology and patience of Impact AV.

Project Manager @ Reconciliation NSW

1. Brief

The Head of Partnership from International Towers asked Impact AV to do a live stream for a reconciliation event called Caring for Country. This event was to celebrate National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day at Observatory Hill.

The event captured elder Uncle Jimmy conducting a smoke ceremony for the Fort st students. It also included a performance of the Burrundi Dancers exhibiting traditional aboriginal dance. The client as using Zoom to virtual stream and present the event. The client also needed us to play a pre-recorded video of Minister Harwin explaining what day was about.

2. Approach

Impact AV understood that the event had many moving parts in a brief amount of time and had to ensure all of it was captured in quick succession.

Our solution to capturing all elements in the live stream was utilising Vmix (a streaming software) which funnelled all the components of the event in a single quality stream.

Using Black Magic 4K cameras and a Magewell SDI capture card we were able to record the visual aspect at Observatory Hill with ease. To compliment the visual, we attached a lapel microphone to elder Jimmy to capture his teaching the students about our land and its history.

We were able to link the Zoom call into Vmix so we could switch to presenter Jodie in the live stream to introduce Uncle Jimmy, the Burrundi Dancers and Minister Harwin’s video. Minster Harwin’s video we ran off a Macbook and into the same Magewell SDI capture card for easy transitioning.

3. Result

The event was a great success with 450 people tuning in for the brief hour we streamed. It was a privilege to be able to provide AV for such a spiritual and connecting event.
